Your Help is Needed … Membership Research
As most of you know there has been a serious effort during the past year to evaluate the status of our church’s membership roll. The goal for this project is to provide data for a more accurate representation of the current membership of Cedartown First United Methodist Church. A committee has gathered information through various contacts, and this phase has been documented. Now we turn to you as members of the congregation at large to help us “close the gap” even further. You will find a list, of those who remain on our roll but for whom we have located no contact information, in the Gathering Room, Sunday school rooms, and the Fellowship Hall. Remember, this is an effort to re-connect the church with those who remain as members.

Homebound Members
Attached please find a link to those members of our church who are homebound and no longer able to join us for worship and fellowship. Many have given years to the church in serving, leading and teaching. Please take a moment and send a note or card of encouragement or take time to visit if you are near. Thank you for your care for our treasured Saints.

Each Sunday, many of our youth and children serve as Acolytes, assisting in worship and the lighting of candles. Mrs. Laurie Hughes has graciously agreed to help assist with this valuable ministry and co-lead with Pastor Mike. Please check the list for your child’s name as a participant. If you need to make a switch, please contact another parent whose child is listed and let the church office know before Thursday at noon.

Special Session of the General Conference & Congregational Meeting
As many of you may know, there is a Special Session of the General Conference of the worldwide United Methodist Church, the delegates to which were elected in 2016, in St. Louis the week of February 23rd – 26th. Their main responsibility will be to receive reports, amendments and vote related to a plan for Church organization, polity and structure moving forward and directly related to issues of our views and response around human sexuality, the ordination of our clergy, and same gender unions. Please keep the United Methodist Church, our leadership and our Council of Bishops in your thoughts and prayers over the coming month. For more information, we recommend the book “United Methodists Divided – Understanding Our Differences Over Homosexuality” by Dale McConkey or the Conference based resources at (SEE PREVIOUS ARTICLE). We will have a Congregational meeting on Sunday, February 10th in the Fellowship Hall at 4pm, for purposes of hearing more about this Special Session of General Conference, the issues at hand, and to ask questions. Childcare will be provided and everyone is invited to attend. Please be on the lookout for more information at this date nears. If you have any questions beforehand, please contact Pastor Mike directly.
