From a Confirmand’s perspective …

During our Confirmation retreat, I had a great experience with my friends, worshipping, and enjoying nature. Glisson was a very cool experience for me because it was my first time going there and being at a camp other than the one I go to almost every summer in Alabama. It was also a pretty big milestone for me in my journey of joining the Methodist Church. The retreat was a good bonding experience for everyone who went because we all got to share our faith and enjoy ourselves together. My favorite thing we did on the trip together was sitting out under the stars while talking with our counselors/leaders. I also really enjoyed doing a “creek-hike” to the falls. Altogether, I had a great experience on the Confirmation retreat at Glisson!”

(Emmajean is the teenage daughter of Jeff and Stephanie Clay and a sophomore at Rome High School.  Jeff and Stephanie joined our church family this past Sunday and have taken an active role in the life and ministry of our church.)

A Music Road trip & Dinner

Available to the first 15 reservations, a music lovers group will be taking the church bus to First United Methodist Church of Carrollton for a fall afternoon of music.  Janice Joyce Robinson (flute), Cheryl G. Childers (piano), Tony Childers (organ), Scott Keesey (percussion), Linda McCormick (soprano), and the Fire Choir of First Methodist will join together in multiple combinations to present a program of uplifting music to nurture the soul.

Fall into . . .
 Peace for your soul
 Love for varied harmonies
 Joy for glorious sounds
 . . .  through music.

Music from the pens of famous composers like Rachmaninoff, Bach, Rutter, Copeland, and Sibelius will provide an exciting musical tapestry for all to enjoy. Composers La Forge, Doppler, and Debussy will help to round out the program. In addition, the musicians’ creativity will also inspire you as their talents combine with the children’s voices in a setting of Amazing Grace.

This concert will be presented at Carrollton First United Methodist Church on October 14th at 4:00 P.M. in the main sanctuary. A love offering will be taken. The church is located at 206 Newnan Street in historic downtown Carrollton, Georgia.

Our traveling band of music lovers will meet in the back parking lot at 2:45, enjoy a wonderful concert and a pleasing dinner on the square (Dutch), and return to Cedartown First.   Others driving separately are invited to caravan/carpool and dine with our group and possibly meet the musicians.

To make your reservation, please contact the church office by Friday at noon.  Buckle your seatbelts and get ready for a one of a kind adventure.
