This is the last week for Baby Bottle Boomerang. All bottles should “boomerang back” on Sunday, June 17. Baby Bottle Boomerang is our current mission effort which benefits LMO –Life Matter Outreach—Pregnancy Care Center here in Cedartown. LMO is a place where a woman experiencing an unplanned pregnancy can come for confidential care and support. LMO offers free pregnancy testing, education, and counseling about pregnancy options, and support programs. At LMO they work to help build stable, healthy families in our community through their outreach and educational resources.
This campaign is called Baby Bottle Boomerang because we distribute empty baby bottles to church members and just like a well tossed boomerang, they come back to us full of coins, currency, and checks. These funds will go to LMO Pregnancy Care Center to help them help change lives. During this last week, continue to fill your bottle with spare change, and return your filled bottle as you come to church on Father’s Day. As you enter the sanctuary on June 17, please place your Baby Bottle Bank on the altar rail before you take your seat.
Last year our contributions to LMO were almost $1600. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if this year we could match and exceed our gift this year!!
Remember to save your change for LMO this last week. Our loose change combined with other donors’ change can truly change lives!!

One of the basic disciplines of the United Methodist Church is what John Wesley called “Holy Conferencing”, a gathering of the laity and/or clergy for worship, prayer and fellowship. The North Georgia Annual Conference is scheduled for June 11th-14th and will be held in Athens, GA. You have both a Clergy delegate and a laity delegate who will be present for this week of Annual Conference. Britt Madden, Sr. serves as our Lay Delegate to Annual Conference and represents the voice of our laity for all matters of the Annual Conference. Please keep both Pastor Mike and Britt in your prayers during this time.

Over the last several months, and in light of recent incidents around the country, our church leadership and Trustees have taken additional precautionary steps to provide for a safe space for our preschool, nursery, children’s ministry and church and worshipping congregation. Our preschool hallway is secure on weekdays and must be entered by ringing the buzzer on the Wissahickon Avenue, nearest the water department.
On Sundays, the Fellowship Hall door is secured following the start of Sunday school at 10am. Following the start of worship, our Gathering Room door (nearest the main parking lot) is secured at 11:15 by our Ushers. The main entrance on Wissahickon Avenue (across from First Baptist) will remain unlocked for late arrivals and to provide a secure worship experience.
While we realize this may be an inconvenience to some and are preventative at best, we feel a responsibility to take these steps and sincerely desire to be most attentive to not only the safety of but also the worship experience of our church family. We appreciate your patience and understanding with these changes.

Confirmation at Cedartown First
We are making plans to offer a Confirmation class for youth, 6th grade and older, beginning with the new school year. This 6-8 week course will touch on the basic beliefs of our faith and denomination and seek to answer questions your child may have. If you have an upcoming 6th grade or older youth, please contact the church office so that we can be sure we include everyone.
Parents – if you have a child currently in college or soon to be going in that direction, please send his/her name to the church office along with the name of the school and a current mailing address. We are beginning a new outreach to our students while they are away at school.
Bagwell Food Pantry and the Cedartown Boys and Girls Club
We have a ministry partnership with The Boys and Girls Club of Cedartown and the Bagwell Food Pantry located in Rome. Each week, a different team of volunteers serves as transportation to pick up boxed meal sacks from the pantry and deliver them to the children for the weekend. Dean Nissen has graciously agreed to coordinate this ministry outreach. If you would like to find out more, please contact Dean at 770.881.0226 or email email@example.com.
(If you or your group would like to serve at the Bagwell Food Pantry, contact Dawn Hayes at dhayes@.)
